About Sacred Heart
Whether you are new to our site or a frequent visitor, we hope to provide you with solid footing on your journey of faith.
Our History
Sacred Heart Parish parishioners reside in the village of Margaretville and in the surrounding area that includes Roxbury, Arkville, Fleischmanns, Andes and beyond. The parish community has both fulltime residents, as well as parttime owners with a residential presence from New York City and the metropolitan area, New Jersey, and Connecticut.
The modern church history began in 1955, largely funded by Armand G Erpf, a wealth second homeowner. He chose the church to be built in Margaretville at the Corner of Main and Academy.
The parish today is led by Father Greg Weider, as the sacramental minister, and Deacon Joseph Cechnicki, Interim Administrator. There are many individuals who dedicate their time and talent to ensure the operations of the parish run smoothly.
St. Anne’s is our mission church located in Andes NY.
Welcome
We are a welcoming and inclusive community of believers in Jesus Christ. We proclaim from floor to rafter; all are welcome in this place, no exceptions!
Worship
Mindful of our utter reliance on God, and need for God’s grace, we rejoice together in our celebration of the sacraments and the proclamation of the Gospel at Mass.
Witness
We are a respectful community who are witnesses to the social gospel of Christ, where injustice is challenged, where the poor, the alienated and the marginalize find a home, and where people are refreshed, reconciled and renewed.
